The Volvo V40 needs little introduction, being one of Europe’s most popular compact models — and for good reason. This particular Cross Country T5 variant stands out with Volvo’s All-Wheel Drive system, intelligently distributing power between front and rear wheels for improved traction and stability, particularly in poor weather conditions.

Under the bonnet lies Volvo’s highly regarded 2.0-litre 5-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, producing 210 HP and 221 lb-ft of torque. This is one of the final model years to feature the 5-cylinder engine before Volvo transitioned to the (arguably less characterful) 4-cylinder units from mid-2014. Power is delivered through a six-speed tiptronic automatic transmission, offering the option of manual gear selection via up/down shifts on the gear lever.

PROVENANCE

This vehicle was first registered in Japan in July 2013. Our team in Japan inspected the vehicle at the USS Nagoya auction to confirm it met our high quality standards and, following successful bidding, it departed on the shipping vessel, The One Humber. It was shipped via container and arrived into Southampton's Eastern Docks, where it was carefully unloaded ready for our collection.

With all import duties & fees paid, and our comprehensive UK preparation completed, it has now been fully UK registered (as of August 2025) and assigned the registration number BP13 XPB.

It comes supplied with both Volvo keys, books and full Volvo Japan service/maintenance history (a translation of which can be found at the bottom of this advert when viewed on our website). All of our imports include our Vehicle Import Passport (VIP) — featuring the all-important Japanese CarVX report to warrant both condition & mileage — plus the Japanese auction sheet, export certificate copy, ATL mileage verification certificate, photos from Japan, shipping vessel details, NOVA document, and more.

CONDITION

This Volvo V40 is in excellent overall condition, far superior to the typical UK equivalent and reflective of how well it has been cared for in Japan. The glossy white paintwork retains a deep shine, the headlights are clear and the leather interior presents well with no evidence of pets or smoking. The air-conditioning blows ice cold and mechanically it drives exactly as it should.

The underbody is in excellent shape — having been spared from salted UK roads — and all four alloy wheels are fitted with brand-new matching tyres.

GRADE, WHAT?

All vehicles sold at auction in Japan are independently inspected and graded for condition. The grade reflects the vehicle’s overall quality — exterior, interior, and mechanical. While not fool proof, it's (in our opinion) far more reliable than UK grading systems and an excellent tool for shortlisting before our own detailed inspection.

Grade 4–4.5: Excellent condition — very well cared for with minimal wear.
Grade 3.5: Good, honest condition — light marks or wear consistent with age.
Grade 5 / 6 / S: Near-new or immaculate examples — extremely rare.
