The Honda N-One is a quirky, retro-styled Kei car produced by Honda exclusively for the Japanese domestic market (JDM). Inspired by the classic Honda N360 from the late sixties, it features charming round headlights and a compact yet practical design.

Measuring just 339cm long, 147cm wide, and 167cm high, it's small enough for the tightest of parking spaces yet spacious enough to accommodate taller drivers comfortably. Having personally driven this vehicle from Southampton docks to Staffordshire, we can confirm it cruises happily at motorway speeds and feels perfectly capable for all types of driving.

The S07A Honda engine found in this N-One also powers the popular Honda S660 (with the addition of a turbocharger).

PROVENANCE

This vehicle was first registered in Japan in September 2013. Our team in Japan inspected the vehicle at the USS HAA Kobe auction to confirm it met our high quality standards and, following successful bidding, it departed on the shipping vessel, The One Humber. It was shipped via container and arrived into Southampton's Eastern Docks, where it was carefully unloaded ready for our collection.

With all import duties & fees paid, it has now been fully UK registered (as of August 2025) and assigned the registration number BW63 VPX.

All of our imports include our Vehicle Import Passport (VIP) - featuring the all-important Japanese CarVX report to warrant both condition & mileage - plus the Japanese auction sheet, export certificate copy, ATL mileage verification certificate, photos from Japan, shipping vessel details, NOVA document, and more.

PREPARATION

We're confident we provide some of the highest levels of preparation on our Japanese imports. This Honda has been been fully serviced and comprehensively health-checked by respected independent specialist HondaHQ (Midlands R Specialist), ensuring it’s 100% ready for its new owner.

The speedometer has been fitted with a quality Lockwood MPH dial face, and the stereo includes a UK band expander so you can receive UK radio stations. (Note: as with all JDM vehicles, the stereo text is in Japanese - however, we can point the new owner in the direction of Apple CarPlay/Android Auto upgrade options, if desired.

CONDITION

This Honda N-One is in excellent overall condition - far superior to the typical small car found in the UK - and clearly reflects the careful ownership it enjoyed in Japan. The glossy Milano Red paintwork retains a deep shine, the headlights are clear, and the interior presents exceptionally well with no signs of pets or smoking. The air conditioning blows ice cold, and mechanically it drives exactly as it should.

Most impressively, the underbody is in outstanding condition, having been spared from salted UK roads. We viewed many N-Ones in Japan, but this was by far the cleanest example we found - comparable underneath to a 1–2-year-old car. Prior to sale, it will be professionally undersealed using high-quality Bilt Hamber products to preserve that condition for years to come.

WHY A JAPANESE IMPORT?

Simple: they're widely regarded as some of the best-kept used cars in the world. Strict ownership rules, low annual mileage, and exceptional maintenance standards mean most (i.e. the ones that pass our pre-bidding inspection) arrive in outstanding condition compared to equivalent UK-market cars.

Japanese buyers often specify higher trim levels and better equipment, so imported models frequently come with features rarely found on UK equivalents. Combined with low mileage, superior condition, and excellent value, Japanese imports can represent a smart, long-term investment for discerning buyers who want the best example possible of a given model.

GRADE, WHAT?

All vehicles sold at auction in Japan are independently inspected and graded for condition. The grade reflects the vehicle’s overall quality — exterior, interior, and mechanical. While not fool proof, it's (in our opinion) far more reliable than UK grading systems and an excellent tool for shortlisting before our own detailed inspection.

Grade 4–4.5: Excellent condition — very well cared for with minimal wear.
Grade 3.5: Good, honest condition — light marks or wear consistent with age.
Grade 5 / 6 / S: Near-new or immaculate examples — extremely rare.

Owning a Japanese import is about driving something special, and a bit different. That uniqueness can sometimes trip up standard systems, especially when it comes to insurance.
